The City of Angleton’s Senior Commission is seeking feedback from seniors in the Angleton community in regards to issues in various areas. Please click the link posted below to take the survey. With your provided feedback, staff will work to create an annual strategic plan to educate, advise and recommend information and possible solutions to City Council. The survey will be available now and until October 12th.

The Angleton Parks and Recreation Department strives to provide a variety of programs and activities for all ages. These programs will influence individual well-being, including physical health and social and emotional factors, by reaching out in ways that are most effective for each person.

Virtual Programming

Our Silver Hearts Senior program has moved virtually and can be found on either Zoom or our Angleton Parks & Recreation Facebook page. We are offering a variety of activities and programs each week to keep you busy. Below is the weekly schedule for you to reference. Please check back here periodically for any updates. We hope that you will join us even virtually and we can’t wait until we can see each other in person!

Our lunch bunch group is going virtual for a bit! Pick up your lunch of choice and hop on Zoom so we can socialize and catch up with each other! There is no set agenda or script to follow, just friends chatting about their current life.

Indoor Gardening COA

Indoor Gardening Series

We're excited to partner with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service - Brazoria County in a four part series for indoor gardening. Each week, Stephen Brueggerhoff, Extension Agent - Horticulturist will be streaming live on Angleton Parks & Recreation's Facebook page.

    • October 7 - Gardening Indoors:  Explore methods and materials including soil, lighting, picking a spot and choosing a container for successful indoor gardening
    • October 14 - Knowing and Growing Winter Crops: Consider vegetables just right for growing fall through winter. We will discuss planting with seed and starts.
    • October 21 - Herbs, the Spice of Life: Presenting herbs for window gardening, including a few companion plantings to make a perfect pair.
    • October 28 - Terrarium Dreams with Fairy Gardens: Add some whimsy and dreamy romance to your room, learning methods to create a successful and unique fairy garden.

We've partnered with our local Walgreens for them to administer flu shots. Masks must be worn while within the facility and spots will be marked for social distancing. Please bring your Medicare and or Insurance card, if you do not have either the cost for a flu shot will be $40.99.

Calling all seniors to come celebrate the holiday season with our Drive-Thru Christmas. Visit the Angleton Recreation Center for a curbside pick-up lunch and a goodie bag. Wear your holiday sweater for a change to win a prize. Join us later online for a Zoom gathering for door prizes and fun!
