National / Texas Night Out

Promoting Crime Deterrence

National Night Out is a part of the National Association of Town Watch. Each year one night is designated as National Night Out where each neighborhood plans a get-together to promote crime deterrence. National Night Out is held the 1st Tuesday evening of every August. Citizens come together to get to know each other and meet and greet local emergency responders (Law Enforcement, Fire Officials, EMS, and City Officials) to build a partnership for the enrichment of the community.

Texas Night Out

As everyone in Texas knows, August is one of the hottest months of the year so Texas was allowed to hold their own Texas Night Out in October when it is cooler. This year’s celebration will be held on Tuesday, October , 2022. Texans are encouraged to participate. The Block Parties, as they are known, do not have to be expensive and may include hot dogs, drinks, chips, cookies, punch, etc. It is a day set aside for communities to get behind crime prevention and speak to officials about concerns in their neighborhoods.

If you are interested in hosting or co-hosting a block party with your neighbors, please contact Sergeant Harold Vandergrifft at 979-849-2383 ext. 3131 or hvandergrifft@angletonpd.net.
