About Parks & Recreation
The City of Angleton works to enrich the lives of the residents of Angleton through quality parks and open spaces, recreation programs, and services.
The Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains more than 200 acres of developed parkland spread over eight parks. These community parks include everything from playgrounds, disc golf, outdoor volleyball courts, horseshoes, rental pavilions, fitness trails, butterfly gardens, youth sports complexes, and the Angleton Recreation Center. We even like to make sure that our four-legged family members have a place to call their own at the Officer Cash Memorial Dog Park.
The Recreation Department promotes, organizes, implements, and evaluates a wide variety of leisure programs for youth, adults, and senior citizens in the community.
These leisure programs include the operation of the Angleton Recreation Center, educational and recreational programs, special events, supervised children's programs, trips and tours, and facility reservations.
The mission of Angleton Parks and Recreation is to provide a well-maintained, diverse, family-oriented environment that enhances the quality of life for the citizens of Angleton.
Creating Community through People, Parks, and Programs.
Comprehensive Parks & Recreation Master & Strategic Plan
The Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master & Strategic Plan created a road map for ensuring an appropriate balance of facilities and amenities throughout the community now and into the future. The final Comprehensive Parks & Recreation Master and Strategic Plan was approved by City Council on December 10th. You can view an electronic copy here or visit the Angleton Recreation Center to review a paper copy. We are nearing completion of this fiscal year’s action items. Pending tasks include: engage a teen advisory board, boulevard mowing RFP, improve park patrol, develop a neighborhood watch program with the Police Department and implement Lakeside Park Master Plan elements. For more information regarding these meetings Megan Mainer, email@example.com.
Parks & Recreation Standards Manual
The Angleton Parks and Recreation Department hired Kimley Horn to assist with the development of Angleton Parks and Recreation standards. The Parks & Recreation Standards Manual is a resource for staff, boards and commissions, and developers regarding minimum park standards, component materials, color, etc. to ensure there is continuity throughout our park system to improve overall maintenance and longevity of equipment. Click here to access the Parks & Recreation Standards Manual.
Angleton Parks and Recreation Department features numerous parks, trails, athletic facilities, gardens, and the Angleton Recreation Center. These amenities, coupled with City-sponsored special events and programs, are some of the things that make Angleton a great place to live, work, play, and retire! By taking advantage of sponsorship opportunities with the Parks and Recreation Department and Keep Angleton Beautiful, your business will be able to maximize exposure to the residents of Angleton and show community support. Angleton Parks & Recreation Scholarship Program
The City of Angleton Parks & Recreation Department believes that every Angleton resident should have the opportunity to take part in public recreational programs and classes, which foster development, promote health and wellness, and increase cultural unity. The goal of the Angleton Parks & Recreation scholarship program is to provide the opportunity to participate in parks & recreation programming by assisting low-income families and individuals and subsidizing costs associated with Angleton Parks & Recreation programs. The scholarship program establishes the eligibility, requirements, distribution, award level, and guidelines that apply to all Angleton Parks & Recreation programs for which a fee is charged.
Scholarship forms are available online (PDF) or in person at the Recreation Center located at 1601 North Valderas Street.
Completed applications and supporting documents should be turned into Recreation Superintendent Geri Gonzales at the Angleton Recreation Center. For questions, you can email Geri at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once all documentation has been received and verified, Recreation staff will review and process applications within 14 business days. Applicants will be notified by email of the status of the scholarship.
