Public Records

The City Secretary is responsible for responding to public information requests, applying the laws and regulations of the Texas Public Information Act, and for providing briefs to the Attorney General regarding requests to withhold information.

Public Information Act

Under the Texas Public Information Act, you have the right to request documents from the City.

Types of Records

The Office of the City Secretary is the administrative agency responsible for the care and maintenance of all City of Angleton records. This office houses all:

  • City Council minutes and agendas
  • Contracts
  • Deeds
  • Legal transactions
  • Ordinances
  • Resolutions
  • Vast array of other historical and regulatory information

Governmental Body’s Responsibilities

The Texas Public Information Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, do legal research or answer questions.  The request must ask for records or information already in existence. The governmental body has 10 business days to respond to the request.
