It’s been 24 years since the most of the existing
development regulations of the City were adopted. Laws and standards
governing development have changed considerably since then, as has development
technology, and the expectations of citizens. For those reasons, the City
proposes to update the land development codes of the City. Issues pertaining to
Zoning and land use are not included in the proposed LDC.
The City has a number of codes that govern land development.
Principal among those is the Subdivision Ordinance. The proposed LDC will
consolidate all of those codes into a single document and enable them to
function cohesively with all processes and procedures clearly spelled out. The
LDC will also comprehensively update the standards that govern the design of
development projects, streets, driveway locations, drainage, and
infrastructure. With new development considering Angleton, it’s imperative that
the City’s development codes be updated to ensure that those projects are
developed in a responsible manner that reflects the land development
expectations of the City and the advances in development technology.
The input of the public is highly desirable. The public is welcome to review the draft Land Development Code and to forward any comments, thoughts, or questions to Randy Anderson, Assistant City Manager at randerson@angleton.tx.us, or
979-849-4364 Ex.-2136, or by mail at 121 S. Velasco Street, Angleton, TX 77515.
A schedule of workshops, Public Hearings, a Town Hall
meeting, and tentative adoption schedule will be posted after a schedule is
adopted by the City Council on September 18, 2018.
