The National Weather Service is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Cristobal. Cristobal is currently developing in the Bay of Campeche, but over the weekend, it is forecast to move quickly north toward eastern Texas and the western Louisiana coast. It is expected to bring sustained winds of 40 to 50 mph and heavy rains to our area as early as Saturday evening. This type of weather should linger throughout Sunday and begin dissipating by Monday morning.
Although the track of this storm is not entirely certain, it is reasonable to expect that the Angleton area will be impacted from Saturday evening until Monday morning. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of time on Saturday to secure any loose objects or décor in their yards or patios, ensure they have adequate flashlights and batteries, and be prepared to board up windows and any vulnerable access points and “hunker down” in the event Cristobal becomes stronger than anticipated. It is also recommended to follow this storm closely Friday and Saturday via local newscasts, the internet, and the City of Angleton’s web page and Facebook. Should the situation warrant, messages will be sent via Connect CTY.
