Posted on: May 10, 2021[ARCHIVED] City of Angleton Seeking Youth Parks Board Member

The City of Angleton is accepting applications for a youth Parks and Recreation board member position. One of the Parks & Recreation Master and Strategic Plan objectives was to “engage a teen advisory board, club or teen council to understand and implement programs/events of interest”. Staff considered various ways to engage youth within the community and have taken the approach to include a youth member on the Parks & Recreation board to provide input on parks and recreation outreach, programming, and events. The additional member will also help advise staff on future action items on the master plan.
If you know any youth in the community that may be interested in serving, please have them complete the application attached and send it to the City Secretary at citysecretary@angleton.tx.us. To be eligible, youth must be the age of 16 – 18 years old, a resident of the City of Angleton, an active student in good standing, and not a City of Angleton employee. All criteria must be met at the time of appointment and will serve a term of one year. Lastly, the youth member is not eligible for the chair role nor will it be a voting position but will provide input and opinion as a youth representative for the city.
Please spread the word and send this out to youth in our community who might be eligible and interested in serving on the City of Angleton Parks & Recreation Board.
