UPDATE FROM BWA: The effects of Hurricane Beryl have affected our community in many ways, but our water remains safe for consumption. Brazosport Water Authority has been aware of the taste, color, and odor issues that are affecting Member Cities and Customers. This is due to the wind, rainfall, and debris from Hurricane Beryl. None of these issues have impacted the safety of our water. Testing has been performed by Brazoria County Health Department Water Lab, as well as Brazosport Water Authority’s treatment plant. Though the raw water sources have not returned to normal, BWA operations staff has worked diligently on treating and returning the water to our usual finished product. On July 19, 2024, the color issues have been resolved at the Brazosport Water Authority’s Treatment Plant, and by Monday the 22nd, the taste and odor were back to normal. Staff from several Member Cities confirmed water being received from BWA has returned to normal conditions. The Member Cities are in the process of flushing out their distribution system to remove any remaining color, taste, or odor. BWA wishes to express our thanks and appreciation to the Cities Administrative and Public Works Departments for their assistance throughout this event. We apologize for any inconvenience. As always, the safety of the public is our main concern, and we will continue to update as changes occur.

The City of Angleton receives over 95% of our drinking water from our surface water provider, BWA. Due to hurricane Beryl, the source of BWA’s surface water has been impacted. This has caused reservoirs and channels to become disturbed from all the rainfall, and flow. This in turn has caused the treated water we receive to have a yellowish appearance in color, and a slight odor. BWA is doing everything in their power to combat the issue at their treatment facility. BWA and the City of Angleton want to assure you that the water is safe to drink. These discoloration issues, and odor issues, will linger until the flow of the reservoirs return to normal post-storm. For any other issues, or additional information, please contact Jacob Glover at 979-849-4364 ext. 5111. Thank you.

Angleton, we need your help! As we begin picking up storm debris this week, please ensure there are no parked cars in the roadway that would inhibit the truck being able to pick up debris. Thank you!
------------------------------------------------
7/15/24 @ 9:15AM
- Assessment and Prioritization
- Debris contractors will assess the most concentrated and unsafe debris areas first, guiding their decision on where to begin.
- Storm-Related Debris Only:
- Only storm-related debris will be accepted. Non-storm-related trash or debris will not be picked up.
- Sorting and Separation:
- All debris must be sorted and separated into like piles. (Refer to the attached Sorting Debris Flyer for details.)
- Hazardous Waste:
- No hazardous waste will be picked up. Examples include paint cans, pesticides, chemicals, motor oil, batteries, etc.
- Proper Placement:
- Do not place storm debris in trash bags or cans. Instead, place it directly on the right-of-way for removal. If debris is already in bags or cans, please empty them onto the right-of-way. Please do not park cars in the roadway in front of the debris pile.
- Private Property:
- Debris contractors will not enter private property to retrieve debris.
- Contractor Responsibility:
- If you’ve hired a contractor to remove debris from your property, it’s their responsibility to haul it away.
- Timelines:
- Basic timelines for debris placement on the right-of-way will be provided. Monitor the city website and social media for updates.
- FEMA Guidelines:
- Debris types cannot be mixed in the same load. The first pass will be for vegetation debris only (trees, limbs, branches). Other storm debris (fencing, construction materials) will be collected in subsequent passes.
- Patience and Progress:
- The first pass for vegetation debris will take time. Once completed, a second pass for all other storm debris will be scheduled. Your patience is appreciated during this process.

TNMP Power Outage Update:
The City of Angleton continues to maintain strong communication with TNMP. Our Office of Emergency Management is in daily contact with them to stay abreast of the situation.
Weather Delays: The recent weather, including multiple storms with lightning, has significantly delayed repair efforts. While some work can be done in light rain, it cannot proceed during lightning storms.
Website Updates: The TNMP power outage website is experiencing significant delays in updating information. This is due to the high volume of contractors working to restore power and limited Wi-Fi connectivity in the affected areas.
Additional Support: TNMP has brought in linemen and tree crews from across the United States to assist with the restoration efforts.
Power Restoration Timeline: Currently, we do not have a specific date for when power will be fully restored. The unpredictable and challenging conditions make it difficult to provide an accurate timeline. We advise residents to prepare for the possibility of the outage extending into next week, although we all hope for a sooner resolution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.
